Volunteering

Interested in sharing your time, knowledge and expertise in return for priceless rewards?

Research has shown that volunteering can have significant benefits for clients and volunteers alike. Clients certainly benefit from enriched lives on practical, emotional and overall health levels. And volunteers, too, can achieve a sense of purpose and fulfillment to improve well-being. Even sharing just a few hours a month can result in increased physical and intellectual activity, enhanced self-worth, feelings of accomplishment, reduced stress, and new skills and friendships gained.

And in addition, we will work with you to match your interests and availability to a volunteer role that’s right for just you. Of course, we also provide the training and ongoing communication you need to be successful in your role. Support is always a phone call or email away.

What you’ll need

For the safety and security of all parties involved, volunteers are required to provide:

A few kind words from our Volunteers and their Clients

My Friendly Visiting client and I have become fast friends. Our visits vary – we do groceries or window shopping; cooking to freeze meals for another day; go for walks culminating in a stop at our favourite coffee shop; play scrabble, or just sit and chat over tea and cookies. I derive as much pleasure as she does, and I am getting a lot of psychic income out of this.  I am glad I linked up with Links2Care.

Friendly Visitor

Thank you so much for the experience I had supporting Meals on Wheels over the past 3 years. I will never forget how you made me feel so welcome and supported.

Meals Volunteer

Some people don’t believe in angels but they do not know my Friendly Visitor.  She is a messenger of a world of kindness and care. We get together for little errands or lunch but most enjoyably she takes me to Aquafit.  Since my hearing and vision are impaired she relates all instructions to me so that I can fully participate. Thus Aquafit becomes AquaFun, and we both emerge relaxed, refreshed and energized.
