Community Wellness Hub Support Volunteer


Links2Care is a non-profit community service organization that provides multi-service support to seniors, adults with disabilities, children and families in Mississauga and the Halton Region. Position Overview

The Community Wellness Hub Support Volunteer will help assist with the Foot Care Clinic, bringing clients from resident building to and from the clinic at Community Wellness Hub.
As a volunteer of Links2Care, the volunteer will actively demonstrate Links2Care values and will promote and support the mission and vision of the agency.

Duties/Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Interacts professionally in accordance with Links2Care Code of Conduct and Human Rights Act.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of client information in accordance with Links2Care confidentiality/privacy policy.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Pick-up clients from resident building and bring them to Wellness Hub for foot care clinic.
  • Bring clients back to resident building following appointment.
  • Converses in a friendly manner with clients and staff.
  • Reports any problems or concerns to Links2Care staff.
  • Maintains calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.
  • Participates in annual volunteer survey.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Be patient, understanding, and sensitive to the needs of seniors or those with disabilities.
  • Be friendly and courteous.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interact, listen and communicate clearly with others in a professional, courteous and pleasant manner.
  • Willingness to assist others in a non-judgmental manner with patience and understanding.
  • Ability to speak Russian, Arabic, or Mandarin is considered an asset

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years of age.
  • Comfortability working with seniors and/or those with disabilities.
  • Must have good physical mobility. Role will consist of a lot of walking.

Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to start date and throughout volunteer duration as required by Links2Care (if over the age of 18).

Time Commitment:

  •  Weekly on Friday mornings from 9:30am – 12:30pm

Boundaries and Limitations:

  • May come in contact with personal and/or confidential information about clients and will not share any information beyond the duties of the position. 
  • No physical contact with clients.
  • Do not lift or transfer, or provide personal care to any participant.

Do not administer medication or provide medical advice.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to outdoor environment & weather conditions.

Orientation/Training and Benefits:

  • Orientation to agency programs and policies and ongoing support and training are provided.
  • Program specific information and training will be provided.
