Wheels to Meals Driver


Position Overview

The Wheels to Meals driver picks up clients and takes them to local restaurants for social events organized by Links2Care. Volunteer drivers stays for the duration of the social event, enjoying a meal with the others, and then drops off clients back at their homes after event.

As a volunteer of Links2Care, the volunteer will actively demonstrate Links2Care values and will promote and support the mission and vision of the agency.

Duties/Activities/Responsibilities

  • Interacts professionally in accordance with Links2Care Code of Conduct and Human Rights Act.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of client information in accordance with Links2Care confidentiality/privacy policy.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Using own vehicle, picks up and drops off clients at their home before and after event.
  • Stay for duration of event to promote socialization among group.
  • Uses sanitization practices such as recommended hand washing and food serving guidelines.
  • Reports any unusual client conditions and concerns to Coordinator.
  • Maintains calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.
  • Participates in annual volunteer survey.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Respects and maintains client confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact, listen and communicate clearly with others in a professional, courteous and pleasant manner.
  • Willingness to assist others in a non-judgmental manner with patience and understanding.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Has access to a safe and appropriate vehicle, which is adequately insured with a minimum of 1 million dollars of liability.
  • Appropriate vehicle for senior clients to get in and out of safely
  • Be physically able to offer client assistance and lift a walking assistive device in vehicle
  • Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to start date and throughout volunteer duration as required by Links2Care.

Boundaries and Limitations:

  • Do not lift, transfer or provide personal care to clients.
  • Cannot provide any advice of a medical or financial nature.
  • Do not administer medication.

  • Orientation to agency programs and policies and ongoing support and training are provided.
  • Program specific information and training will be provided.
