EarlyON Program Assistant


Position Overview

The program assistant volunteer will assist staff in supporting the EarlyON program, participants and
families. As a volunteer of Links2Care, the volunteer will actively demonstrate Links2Care values and will promote and support the mission and vision of the agency.

Duties/Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Interacts professionally in accordance with Links2Care Code of Conduct and Human Rights Act.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of client information in accordance with Links2Care confidentiality/privacy policy.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provide childcare and/or support registered programs by completing other tasks as required. Other tasks may include helping with the preparation of craft projects, washing dishes and toys.
  • Interact and engage with children and adults.
  • Participates in annual volunteer survey.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interact.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Be friendly and courteous.
  • Ability to interact, listen and communicate clearly with others in a professional, courteous and pleasant manner.
  • Willingness to assist others in a non-judgmental manner with patience and understanding.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with young children would be an asset.
  • Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to start date and throughout volunteer duration as required by Links2Care (if over the age of 18).
  • All volunteers are required to provide proof of Immunizations and a medical assessment from your family doctor.

Boundaries and Limitations:

  • No changing of diapers.
  • No carrying of any child.
  • Not allowed to be left alone with any child. The supervisor must be present.
  • Meals/snacks not to be provided or given to children by volunteer.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a childcare environment either in a classroom type setting or outside.
  • Stands for extended periods of time

  • Lift/carry items up to 20 lbs. (i.e., program supplies)
