LINKS2CARE SENIORS SERVICES

Our Seniors’ Programs strive to support clients’ personal preferences and to promote independence for clients to remain safely in their homes for as long as possible.

Seniors programs are provided to those 65 years and older or to adults with a proven disability residing in Halton and Mississauga.

Home Help

Our Home Help program provides assistance with laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, light meal preparation, and grocery shopping with the goal of supporting seniors and adults with disabilities to be able to remain in their own homes. The Home Help program fee is geared to income.

Bathing

Halton and Mississauga (except Burlington): 905-844-0252 or 1-866-844-0252

Our Bathing program provides one bath per week in the home free of charge for seniors or adults with disabilities.

Caregiver ReCharge

Halton and Mississauga (except Burlington): 905-844-0252 or 1-866-844-0252

Our Caregiver ReCharge program provides in-home, worry-free relief by a qualified Personal Support Worker for primary, informal caregivers experiencing high stress providing support for their loved ones (eligibility requirements apply).

Companion Respite

Our Companion Respite allows caregivers some relief for personal time with peace of mind that their loved one is being well cared for. This program is ideal for seniors or adults with disabilities who do not require specialized personal care but would benefit from companionship, walks, meal preparation, etc. Fixed hourly fee for service geared to income.

Client Intervention and Assistance (CIA)

Our CIA program provides support for seniors or adults with disabilities who may be at risk due to a critical or impending change in their life situation such as an upcoming eviction, facing homelessness, loss of financial income, or experiencing difficulties within their home setting such as abuse and isolation. A CIA Coordinator will meet with individuals and/or caregivers to help identify the problem, establish an action plan, and to offer information regarding programs and services,  crisis intervention, and service coordination with other agencies.

Home Maintenance and Repair (HMR)

Our Home Maintenance and Repair program provides help with tasks inside and outside the home to enable seniors or adults with disabilities to remain in their own homes. Jobs could include:

      • Yard maintenance – grass cutting, gardening, raking, etc.
      • Snow Removal
      • Seasonal housecleaning
      • Window washing
      • Odd jobs
      • Minor repairs

These services are provided by a pre-screened, reliable Home Maintenance Worker at an affordable cost.

Friendly Visiting

Our Friendly Visiting program matches isolated seniors or adults with disabilities with a volunteer who will visit once a week to provide companionship and conversation.

Telephone Asssurance

Halton: 905-873-6502 or 1-866-920-6502

Volunteers in our Telephone Assurance program call seniors regularly to provide a safety check and social contact.

Supportive Housing

Acton: 519-853-9916

Our Supportive Housing program provides essential supports for daily living services to eligible seniors living in the designated senior’s apartment building in Acton at 17 Elizabeth Drive. This unique program enables seniors to live independently in comfort, safety, and with dignity.

Our Meal Programs, including Meals on Wheels, Meals on Ice, Wheels to Meals, and Congregate Dining offer a variety of meals to seniors and adults with disabilities and are a delicious, convenient, affordable alternative to food preparation. Meal programs are available in Georgetown and Acton through Links2Care.

Meals On Wheels

Our Meals on Wheels program offers an extensive menu of choices to suit everyone’s taste. Hot, home-style, nutritionally balanced meals or sandwich meals are delivered by volunteers at lunchtime Monday through Friday. Frozen meals can be ordered and delivered with the lunch meal. Meals are planned and prepared by certified cooks at the Villages of Halton Production Kitchen located at Allendale. When ordering, please enquire about individual dietary restrictions.

FOOD

Meals On Ice

Delicious, quality, nutritious, affordable frozen meals – including entrees, soups and desserts – are also available on a weekly basis through our supplier, Apetito. Many are suitable for diabetic, low fat, and/or low sodium diets and other special diet, puree, or minced meals can be ordered.  Orders are required by Friday at noon for Thursday delivery.  Meals will be delivered by volunteers, or can be picked up at our offices.

Wheels To Meals

Our Wheels to Meals luncheons are held twice a month at a local restaurant, church or community hall providing a great opportunity to get out and socialize with friends. The cost varies according to location. Transportation is provided by volunteers for a minimal fee.

Congregate Dining

Our Congregate Dining program provides a variety of tasty meals and an opportunity to make new friends in designated seniors apartment buildings in Georgetown and Acton. Meal dates and sign-up sheets are posted for residents in each building.
