COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX PROGRAM

Are you a Halton Hills resident needing help to complete your Tax Return?

Through the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), Links2Care has volunteers that can prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible Halton Hills residents who have a modest income and a simple tax situation.

You may be eligible if you have a modest income and a simple tax situation.

Modest income

Your total family income should be less than the amount shown in the chart.

Family Size Total Family Income Dependents
One Person $30,000  
One Person with One Dependent $35,000 add $2,500 for each additional dependant
Couple $40,000 add $2,500 for each dependant

Simple tax situation

In general, your tax situation is simple if you have no income or if your income comes from these sources:

  • employment
  • pension
  • benefits such as CPP, disability, CCB, EI, social assistance
  • RRSP
  • support payments
  • scholarships, fellowships, bursaries or grants
  • interest (under $1,000)

Your tax situation is not simple if you:

  • are self-employed or have employment expenses
  • have business or rental income and expenses
  • have capital gains or losses
  • file for bankruptcy
  • are completing a tax return for a deceased person

If you qualify:

Manual Tax Return: If you want to sit with a volunteer to complete your tax return MANUALLY- make an appointment, complete the 2 CVITP forms below and bring them to our Georgetown office at your scheduled appointment time along with your tax information forms and receipts (including your rent receipts).

Electronic Tax Return: If you want a volunteer to E-FILE your tax return for you, complete the 2 CVITP forms below and drop them off along with your tax information forms and receipts (including your rent receipts) at either of our offices.
